“We Are a Disciple’s Ship”
Discipleship the UMC way
As United Methodists, we make a covenant with God and each other to live out our faith according to the guidelines of the UMC as developed over the years since our founder, John Wesley, first began laying out the “way of those called Methodist”. When we become members we pledge to support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
Our General Board of Discipleship offers a simple way to remember how we are to live out these promises. Using the Jerusalem Cross, they divide our actions into four quadrants
Beginning September 8th, Sunday worship will focus on the four Spiritual Disciplines as outlined by the General Board of Discipleship of the UMC: Worship, Justice, Compassion, and Devotion. We will explore what each of these disciplines mean for us as Disciples for Christ and what is expected of us in our work in God’s kingdom.
September 8 - Acts of Worship - John 4:23-24
September 15 - Acts of Justice - Ezekiel 22:23-29, Rural Life Sunday
September 22 - Acts of Compassion - Ephesians 4:1-6
September 29 - Acts of Devotion - Matthew 6:1-18
